Rebecca is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). She joins us with 14 years of experience working in the field of medicine. During her time as a nurse, prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, she worked in acute care, as well as the Operating Room. She scrubbed in all the surgical services, most notably she enjoyed her time working in plastic surgery, reconstructive ENT (Ears, Nose and Throat), and cardiothoracic. Her interest in dermatology was first sparked during her time working in acute care and surgery, as her patients exhibited a myriad of dermatological conditions associated with acute and chronic illness. Most recently she worked as an inpatient Cardiology Nurse Practitioner, as well as a nurse in Moh’s Dermatology Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. During her time working in Dermatology Surgery her keenness for dermatology was reinforced. She graduated from University of Rochester in 2007 in Public Health and Political Science, as well as Nursing.
During her time in undergraduate she worked as a research assistant to the Dean of the School of Public Health looking at management of the W.H.O. (World Health Organization) regarding the smallpox vaccination campaign and its political implications. She also worked as a research assistant to a PhD candidate at the School of Nursing studying HIV transmission and the sexual practice of young black teen mothers with their children’s fathers. She completed her FNP degree at University of Massachusetts in 2019. During her time in graduate school, while working full time as a nurse, she also taught undergraduate students in the School of Nursing. In her free time she enjoys listening to Hidden Brain, yoga, reading, winter snow camping, skiing and traveling. She’s thrilled to be here on the Big Island, where she looks forward to star gazing, hiking, and snorkeling.
