Brief Biography for Marné CarMichael Walsh, MS, PA-C
Marné is a nationally board-certified PA (Physician Assistant) with a specialty recognition in Surgery. She has over fifteen years of dermatology experience and has extensive advanced and expert training in cosmetic injectables. As a certified Medical Laser Safety Officer, she has been operating cosmetic medical lasers for over fifteen years. Marné has an artful eye and passion for rejuvenating and sculpting the aging face to make it look refreshed and natural. She comes with a life-long understanding for the unique demands Hawai’i makes on our skin.
Marné was born and raised on the island of O’ahu. After graduating from the University of Hawaii, Manoa with a B.S. in Biology in 1990, she worked in cancer research and published multiple peer reviewed articles at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Marné moved to Chicago for graduate school and received her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the Chicago Medical School/Finch University of Health Sciences in 1999. Over the course of her career, she has trained in dermatology, cosmetic surgery, pathology, phlebology, urology, internal medicine as well as cardiothoracic surgery. Her postgraduate work has been featured in both Clinics of North America for Plastic Surgery as well as American Therapeutics.
Marné moved to Boston and spent over six years working as a Physician Assistant in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Tuft’s-New England Medical Center. In this position, she gained valuable operating room and intensive care unit (ICU) experience and trained resident doctors rotating through her department. She eventually transitioned from cardiothoracic surgery to dermatology while still in Boston, and has been practicing dermatology since 2005.
Returning to her roots in Hawai’i so her children may share the same unique experience she had while growing up here, she hopes to impart similar values to them: Respect for each other, caring for our environment and the love for life! Marné attends multiple medical education conferences and trainings throughout the year in order to provide the most up-to-date care for her patients. Her philosophy for providing compassionate and individualized care to help her island community is at the core of her passion.
